NOTCH | Martin Kähler | Untitled | Filiale Gallery

Martin Kähler (@martin.kaehler) finds his materials on construction sites, not just focusing on the material itself but on the pragmatic installation and aesthetic moments that emerge through the rhythm of construction. His sculptures and objects arise in direct confrontation with these materials, often shaped by the skillful failure and accidental constellations that occur at the edges of his own construction sites. With Sprezzatura in mind—the effortless mastery that conceals its own effort—he transforms traces of craftsmanship into artworks that are difficult to reproduce. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, Kähler studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, graduating in 2016. He now lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.

Find Martin’s work in ISSUE 002: GRAVITY, available now online at the Notch Shop.
